Bad, Bad Leroy Brown (Bear); Lake Clark National Park

“The Other Boars just Call Him Sir!”

When I look at this boar I think of Jim Croce’s great song, “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown.”  This guy was the biggest male brown bear I saw in my week at Silver Salmon Creek.  Note the size of his shoulders and chest compared to the boar that was following the sow and cub in my last post.  He has an old scar above his right eye.

  1. Definitely wouldn’t want that guy p’d off at me! If I showed up to photograph this guy with my 300/4 ant 1.7X, I might think, “I’m gonna need a bigger lens….”

  2. Such a handsome bear! It’s quite fascinating to see your series with the males in their summer coats looking so remarkably different than the females. Great stuff, Jim!
