Nice Jim. You’ve got me realizing it’s been too long since I’ve been out to Point Reyes.
Thanks Cole. It’s a good time to go there. Babies are being born and much of the ground is still green.
Sounds like a great time to visit the area. We have always been too early for the elk babies in Yellowstone. But, with these in our own backyard now, we have no excuse not to visit.
Calving is well underway Alan. I saw 7 calves with their mothers today near the D Ranch. In the groups I saw today not many cows looked pregnant. I think there are a lot of calves that have been born very recently and they’re being kept hidden by their mothers until they get a little bigger.
Great shot, Jim! This bull really has a nice rack going already. I took a hike out Tomales Point over the weekend and encountered a very large herd of males, some with antlers nearly this large and some that look like they’ve just started to grow.
Thanks Pat. The antlers are growing quickly and so are the wildflowers. Unfortunately, the hills are already turning brown.
